Summary: To assist China in making its environmental macro-strategies, the Asian Development Bank and Ministry of Environmental Protection jointly conduct the “Environmental Macro-strategy Study in China” project. This project mainly focuses on learning international experiences, and conducted study on China’s environmental macro-strategies from the following five aspects: (1) international experiences on environmental macro-strategies; (2) strategies on water environment management; (3) strategies on air pollution management; (4) strategies on ecosystem management; and (5) strategies on environmental management.
Recent Progress: The inception workshop was held in May 2008. The Draft study report was finished in September 2008. The final workshop was held in Beijing on 19th and 20th Oct, 2008. At the meeting, the policy recommendations on Chinese environmental macro-strategy and other outcomes of this project were submitted to the Asian Development Bank and related Chinese Agencies. The final report is now in preparation to be published. |
