During Sep. 15-17, 2010, “Training and Exchange Workshop on Management of Hazardous Wastes and Industrial Wastes” under Sino-Norwegian Environmental Competence Building (SINOREN) was held by MEP/FECO in Beijing. The meeting was initiated under a series of project activities with the purpose of enhancing personnel capacity in professional skills and management, advocating international state-of-art environmental management concepts and bilateral environmental cooperation and promoting exchanges in hazardous wastes management at national and local level.

The delegates at the meeting gave a systemic introduction to the two countries’ policies, regulations, and technical guidance in hazardous wastes and industrial wastes management, disposal requirements specified in relevant international environmental conventions, and BAT/BEP applications. They also visited demonstration enterprises under the project to gain firsthand experience.

Present at the meeting include representatives from MEP/FECO, SINTEF, Department of Pollution Prevention and Control of MEP, solid wastes management departments from 12 provinces/cities, and Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
