On April 28, 2011, the Meeting for Conclusion of the Pilot Project of Case Study on Performance Evalution of GEF China Projects was held in ECO Building. The representatives and experts from the International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Department of Science and Technology and Department of Ecological Conservation of Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), the United Nations Development Programme China Country Office, the Asia Pacific Economic and Development Center of MOF, and the Scientific Research Institute of MOF attended the meeting. Mr. Yue Ruisheng, Deputy Director-general of Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (FECO) of MEP, was prsent and chaired the meeting.
Under the request of the International Cooperation Department of MOF, FECO conducted a case study on performance evaluation on 8 selected GEF projects in China in areas of biodiversity and climate change. This is the first time for FECO to undertake project performance evaluation as a third party, which opened up a new area for FECO in providing international consultancy services. In accordance with the contract, FECO established a special evaluation group and has now completed all required activities with the final reports submitted to MOF already.
At the meeting, upon discussions on the reports,the participants fully recognized the outputs of the study and proposed some comments for their further utilization.(translated by Chen Ming) |
