International Conference on Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control Was Held

The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) convened the International Conference on the Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control during June 8-9, 2015. The Conference is aimed at strengthening Chinese and foreign parties’ understanding and supports to the Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control promulgated by the State Council, taking advantage of international experiences and resources to foster the implementation, and jointly discussing a co-governance model that is “commanded by government, implemented by enterprises, driven by market, and participated by the public”.

Representatives from MEP, National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Water Resources presented the detailed interpretation to the background for enactment, targets, contents, and key points of implementation of Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control. In the meantime, the topics as “Urban Water Environment Management” and “Water Pollution Prevention PPP and Green Finance” were discussed during the conference.

The Conference also saw the launch of Integrated, Intelligent, and International Platform for Environmental Technology (3iPET). Leaders such as Environment Minister Chen Jining visited the exhibition booth of 3iPET and listened to relevant work reports while they were attending The 14th China International Environmental Protection Exhibition & Conference (CIEPEC).

As an international, intelligent, and integrated service platform for environmental protection technologies, 3iPET is committed to providing international technological supports for the prevention and control of soil, air, and soil pollution.

About 150 representatives attended the Conference, including those from relevant departments and ministries which have drawn up the Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control, United Nations Environment Programme, World Bank, foreign embassies in China, research academies, and environmental protection enterprises from home and abroad. Chen Liang, Director General of Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of MEP chaired the opening ceremony of the Conference.
