The NOWPAP DINRAC Thematic Further Development Perspective Seminar 2021 and The 19th NOWPAP DINRAC Focal Points Meeting Were Held

On October 13-14, 2021, The Northwest Pacific Action Plan Data and Information Network Regional Activity Centre (NOWPAP DINRAC) Thematic Further Development Perspective Seminar 2021 and The 19th NOWPAP DINRAC Focal Points Meeting were held via video conference. More than 30 focal point officers and experts in the field of marine environment from Member States of China, Japan, South Korea and Russia, and the experts from institutions such as the DINRAC Secretariat, the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre, the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center, College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Nankai University attended the Meeting.


Dr. Pei Xiangbin, the Deputy Director General of the Marine Ecological Environment Department of MEE, China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Pei Xiangbin said that data and information are of great significance to the protection of the marine environment, and put forward suggestions on the future development direction of regional marine environment data and information platform of NOWPAP DINRAC. The meeting reviewed and discussed the project completion report of NOWPAP DINRAC from 2020 to 2021 and the biennium plan from 2022 to 2023, shared the latest progress in marine environmental protection, marine environmental monitoring and marine data visual analysis, exchanged and discussed the technical research route of marine biodiversity, marine blue carbon and other projects.


The meeting fully affirmed the progress made by the NOWPAP DINRAC in promoting regional marine environment data and information, enhanced the practical cooperation among Member States of the Northwest Pacific in the field of marine environment protection and data information, contributed to the implementation of the marine environment objectives of the United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development at the regional level, and promoted the continuous improvement of the quality of the regional marine environment.
The Northwest Pacific Action Plan is an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism for regional marine environment established and supported by the United Nations Environment Programme with the participation of China, Japan, South Korea and Russia. The Secretariat of Northwest Pacific data center is specifically undertaken by FECO MEE, China.
