On 7 June 2023, the "Final Meeting of Sino-Norwegian Cooperation Program on Hazardous Chemicals Relevant Environmental Convention Capacity Building" was held in FECO. Mr.Tom Knappskog, Minister counselor of the Norwegian Embassy in China, Ms. Elin Økstad, Norwegian Ministry of Environment and Climate, Ms.CUI Dandan, Deputy Director General, Department of International Cooperation of MEE, and Ms.DING Ding, Deputy Director General of FECO attended and delivered opening speeches.
The Sino-Norwegian Chemicals Project puts forward feasible and environmental management policy recommendations through industry research, development and compilation of relevant standards, training and promotion, etc., focusing on implementation with the Stockholm Convention and the Minamata Convention on Mercury.
The successful implementation of the project received positive feedback from all participating parties. A series of results under the project have supported the achievement of the objectives of the Stockholm Convention and the Minamata Convention on Mercury and solved the most urgent and challenging issues during implementing the two Conventions in China, and improved the compliance capacity of national and local policy makers and relevant industry sectors to fulfill the POPs and mercury conventions. Opportunities and challenges exist simultaneously in the future. Both China and Norway hope to develop more in-depth and comprehensive cooperation on this basis and make greater contributions to Sino-Norwegian cooperation on environment!

Representatives from Department of International Cooperation, Department of Solid Wastes and Chemicals under MEE, SCC and CNEAC, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, CAFSI and IGCAS（Guiyang）attended the meeting. Relevant staff from Convention implementation departments, FECO joined the meeting.
