On September 18, 2025, Li Yonghong, Director General of Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as FECO), met with Debbie Palmer, Director General of the Energy, Climate and Environment Department of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom, and her delegation in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on topics of climate investment and financing, and South-South cooperation on climate change.

Li Yonghong welcomed the visit of Debbie Palmer and her delegation, and introduced the key work and positive progress made by FECO in the fields of climate investment and financing innovation practice, international exchange and cooperation, and climate change South-South cooperation. He stated that both sides have carried out many similar works and have a good foundation for cooperation. He hoped that in the future, both sides will have more in-depth exchanges and combine their respective advantages to carry out joint research and project cooperation.

Debbie Palmer highly appreciated the achievements that FECO has made. She introduced the work carried out and the advantageous areas by the UK under relevant issues, and recognized the huge potential for cooperation between the two sides. She expressed that the UK hopes to gradually explore practical cooperation with FECO in investment and financing management systems, enhancing the sustainability of South-South cooperation projects, and accumulating cooperation results starting from dialogue and exchange.
