On September 25, 2025, Li Yonghong, Director General of Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as FECO), met with Hilde Singsaas, Director General of the Norwegian Environment Agency. Li Xia, Deputy Director General of FECO, and Joar Strand, Development Counsellor of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in China, attended the meeting.
The two sides reviewed the past over 20 - year cooperation history. The meeting focused on the ongoing bilateral cooperation projects between China and Norway, and the participants exchanged views on the progress and dynamics in fields such as the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), new pollutant/emerging contaminant control, implementation of the Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the Convention on Mercury, plastic pollution, and carbon emissions, affirming the fruitful results achieved under the past cooperation mechanism and its important influence. It was proposed to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in areas such as climate change, green transformation, and green finance, and to seek sustainable financial support for future cooperation. The two sides unanimously agreed to continue to consolidate exchanges and cooperation in existing cooperation fields and look forward to further deepening cooperation in the future.
Colleagues from the CCICED Office, Project Cooperation Division IV, Division of Green and Low-Carbon Development, Convention Implementation Divisions III and IV participated in the meeting.
