On November 11, 2025, the Environmental Convention Implementation Technical Center/Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of MEE (hereinafter referred to as the Center) organized and held an international workshop on perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds (PFAS) in Tianjin. Over 70 representatives from relevant national ministries and commissions, local departments, industry associations, research institutes, and other organizations attended the meeting.
With the support of the SINOCHEM II Project and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the workshop focused on the current global hot topic of PFAS. Experts from FECO, the Norwegian Environment Agency, GIZ, industry associations, and research institutes conducted in-depth discussions on key topics such as the progress of POPs-type PFAS control in China, the dynamics and prospects of PFAS environmental governance in the EU, the challenges and solutions related to the incineration of PFAS waste in Europe, PFAS environmental pollution and health risks, the response and strategic thinking of the organic fluorine industry towards PFAS, the sustainable alternatives and evaluation of PFAS in the firefighting industry, and the exploration of typical PFAS waste management and disposal technologies. The workshop aimed to promote the coordinated development of environmental compliance and new pollutants control under the global governance system, as well as the green transformation of the fluorine chemical industry.
