On April 13, 2026, the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China (referred to as MEP FECO) convened a launch meeting for the third phase of the China-Denmark Strategic Sector Cooperation Project on Wastewater Management (referred to as SSC) in Beijing, in collaboration with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (referred to as DEPA) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing. Mr. Li Yonghong, Director General, Mr. Anders Siegumfeldt, Deputy Head of Mission from the Danish Embassy and Ms. Isabelle Navarro Vinten (online), Deputy Director General from DEPA, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Representatives from the Water and Ecological Environment Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, as well as the ecological and environmental bureau of Beijing, Jiangsu, and Guangxi, were also present at the meeting.
The meeting briefly summarized and reviewed the achievements of the SSC Phase II project, focusing on topics such as water environment risk management, non-point source pollution control, and environmental data application for the Phase III project. It was noted that the Phase III project will align with China's goals for managing water environmental quality during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, strengthen the dissemination and promotion of Phase II project outcomes, and actively engage in capacity-building activities like personnel exchanges, training, and policy research to support China's efforts in practicing initiatives for beautiful rivers and lakes.
The China-Denmark Water and Environment Strategic Cooperation Project was launched in 2014 and implemented in three phases. The Ministry of Environment and Gender Equality of Denmark and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China served as the leading and guiding bodies of the project, while MEP FECO, DEPA and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing acted as the specific implementing agencies.
