On May 19, 2026, the Climate Emergency Kit Donation Ceremony under the Climate and Health Demonstration on China-ASEAN Mangrove and Coastal Community was held in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand. Representatives from the China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Center / Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (CAEC/FECO), Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China handed over the climate emergency kits to Mr. Khajornkiet Rakpanichmanee, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, Thailand, which marked a new achievement of practical cooperation between ASEAN and China in the fields of climate change and ecological environment.

Supported by the Asian Cooperation Fund from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, from 2024 to 2026, CAEC/FECO has focused on regional climate change adaptation needs and actively implemented key cooperation projects including Nature-based Solutions: China-ASEAN Mangrove Conservation Partnership – Climate and Health Initiative on Mangrove and Low-Carbon Community and China-Indonesia Joint Action on Coastal Climate Resilience: Hundred Villages Children-benefiting Initiative for Climate Risk Response in Coastal Rural Areas. It has provided climate emergency kits to ASEAN countries such as Thailand and Indonesia, helping the ASEAN region enhance its capacity to address climate change and build up climate resilience.

During this donation and handover event, CAEC/FECO provided a total of 800 sets of climate emergency kits to the Khon Kaen Provincial Government and Chang Wat Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Government of Thailand. Meanwhile, capacity-building training on climate change adaptation was conducted for local communities, focusing on improving their mastery of climate adaptation knowledge and practical response capabilities. This demonstration not only offers tangible support for local Thai communities to address climate change, promotes joint efforts between ASEAN and China to advance regional climate resilient development and deepen practical cooperation on ecological environment, but also lays a solid ecological foundation for building a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
