On 10 June 2026, Li Yonghong, Director General of the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (FECO), Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Deputy Secretary General of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), met with Anna Otmalm, Senior Policy Advisor from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and her delegation in Beijing. The two sides held discussions on how to advance cooperation in relevant areas under the CCICED framework.

Director General Li Yonghong extended a warm welcome to Ms. Otmalm and her delegation, reviewed the previous fruitful cooperation between CCICED and Sweden, expressed appreciation for Sweden's support for CCICED's work, and briefed the delegation on the schedule of CCICED’s upcoming major events and the preparatory progress for CCICED Phase VIII.

Ms. Anna Otmalm noted that, against the backdrop of the triple planetary crises, Sweden looks forward to strengthening exchanges and mutual learning with China in priority areas such as circular economy, chemicals management, and plastics pollution control. The two sides also exchanged views on the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of CCICED and Sweden's participation and contribution to CCICED Phase VIII. 

Relevant staff from the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing and the CCICED Secretariat attended the meeting.
